I have an English degree from the University of Toronto and a certificate in Creative Writing from Humber College.
I've worked as a professional writer since 2017, a writing instructor since 2021, and have poetry, short fiction, and journalism published with Ink & Sword, Orlando Arts, Poet's Choice, Fabula Press, and others.
My story "Lightning on the Lake" was short-listed for the 2021 Aestas Short Story competition.
In 2021, I thought I could dodge major revisions by creating a “rough” outline for my second novel (since my first one was still a mess of disconnected scenes!).
I finally wrote "The End," and was absolutely thrilled that I'd done it. I'd finished a complete first draft.
But as I reread it, I found a plot hole that spiraled me into weeks of avoidable revisions.
Once that was fixed, I found another plot hole. All the excitement I'd felt about finishing my first draft evaporated, and I was ready to give up on novels altogether.
So I took a step back, reflecting on how not finishing a novel is such a common struggle for writers.
I took stock of all the most prevalent writing advice out there, leaned into my project management background, and created a method that organizes the writing process to avoid major plot holes and make it easier to reach the finish line.
Fast forward to today! With over a decade of study under my belt, I've traditionally published poetry, journalism, and short fiction. I've completed three novels, the third of which I'm currently revising.
If you're looking for a coach who will show you practical, flexible ways to finally finish your first draft, you're in the right place.
